Happy weekend peeps! 🙌

Meet Riku 🙂
A calm and caring presence I’ve created to keep company with Sora.

Riku is made of paper, cardboard, paper mâché, natural fibres and wooden elements, and is the latest piece to join my Ancestral Figures series.
Like the others, he carries a quiet sense of guardianship. Something both grounded and gently watchful 😌

Yesterday, I was sitting in the studio with a cup of tea, looking at these companions of the past lined up together, and it struck me what an incredible journey this has been since I began working in 3D.
Each figure feels like a small step into a world that keeps unfolding, revealing new possibilities with every piece.

The more I experiment with these tactile materials, the more I’m drawn into their language. The way they hold memory, texture, and time. There’s something deeply satisfying in shaping them into forms that feel both ancient and familiar.

And the most exciting part is knowing that this is only the beginning of the exploration. There is so much more to discover, to build, and to bring into presence. ✨

Happy Sunday peeps!

While i'm waiting for the sealer to dry on my latest piece, i've started making some new elements for the next one 😄

Ideas keep coming up, so i'm just embracing this creative flow!
I was thinking about it a few days ago and realised I haven't had a 'block' in a very long time. Since I started working in 3D, it's actually quite the opposite. I have too many ideas!

It's wonderful!! But the hard part is to teach myself not to go in every directions at the same time! 😅

Thanks to the 3 days of rain we've just had, i've been spending a lot of time in the studio and made good progress on this piece.

I reckon it should be finished by the beginning of next week and can't wait to see it next to Sora 🙂

In the studio on a rainy Saturday...

I spent most of the day working on this piece 🙂
Gluing and sealing elements, adding details and contemplating what to do next.

I love this stage! When it's almost finished and everything starts falling into place.
I try a lot of options before gluing anything permanently but it's still nice to see that it works harmoniously once assembled.

I can then focus on all the little details. Which is most likely what I'm going to do tomorrow! 😄

I'm slowly making progress 🙂

Although i'm impatient to see him finish and next to Sora, i've decided to not rush things this year.

I want to take the time to create with intention. Refine my skills, continue to experiment with these materials, and enjoy these mindful moments in the studio.

Life is fast and crazy enough around us!
Some days, it feels like the world is a giant, open air asylum 🤪 And there is not much you can do about it beside witnessing the madness.

It makes my little studio a quiet and peaceful haven. Where i'm reminded that humanity is also capable of creating beautiful and magic things. It gives me hope when it's dark outside 🙌

Let me introduce you to Sora ✨️

She is the most recent piece to join my Ancestral Figures series and has been such a joy to create that i'm making a companion for her!

When inspiration is here, you have to embrace it!

Sora is made with cardboard, paper mâché, paper, natural fibres, and some wooden elements. Approximately 92cm tall and 35cm in diameter, she is composed of three different stackable compartments offering hidden spaces.

Back in the studio after a couple of weeks off! A

Back in the studio after a couple of weeks off!

A refreshing road trip all the way down to Tamworth, Port Macquarie and the beautiful national parks and beaches around the area. Peaceful sceneries and wild life everywhere! Nothing better to reset my brain!

I'm also glad to say that, after a week of antibiotics, my thumb has recovered from the "crab incident" and I'm able to use my hand normally. I think i can say goodbye to my nail though 😅

So, now that my body and mind are fully functional, let's get back to it and finish what i was working on 🙂

So… I had a rather painful but funny experience wh

So… I had a rather painful but funny experience while checking our crab pots on Saturday.
My mistake for putting my hand where i definitely shouldn't have 😅

The poor crab was still tangled in the net and he held onto my thumb for quite a while 🤣
My thumb now looks like a fat sausage and I can’t properly grip anything, which unfortunately means a short pause in the studio.

Strangely, the timing works out. We’re heading away tomorrow for a couple of weeks, and I've already made some new elements for my current piece last week. Hopefully by the time I return, my hand will be ready to cooperate and I can begin assembling everything.

We’ll likely have very little phone reception, so I won’t be very active here.
Time for a proper reset in the wilderness 🙂🙌

Work in progress

I recently started working on this new piece (a future companion for Sora, the most recent sculpture in my Ancestral Figures series), and was welcomed by this beautiful sunset light when i entered the studio this evening!

I'm glad there are still many moments filled with peace and beauty in this crazy world. My studio is definitely one of my happy places!
