Thanks again to Dagmar for having us!

I've had some interesting discussions and got to speak French! It's not happening very often where i live so it's always nice! 😄

A few people asked me how long it takes to make one piece and I thought I would share my reply on here too.
For the large pieces, it takes 3 to 4 weeks. Sometimes more if there are paper flowers involved. It takes time mainly because there are a lot of different elements to make first and also paper mâché can take a long time to dry properly.

Once it's done, I can then try different combinations, decide where to place each parts, and finally assemble everything before applying sealer.
Obviously, it doesn't always go smoothly!
And I can spend a lot of time just working out how to go about it 😄

The Sentinels took me a while to finish, especially the hair. I've tried a few different options before being happy with it. Patience and frustration management are definitely required in my work!

These two pieces are currently at The Loft until June 4, as part of their group exhibition Odd Pieces.

It's always a fantastic feeling when someone connects with your work!
When i buy an artwork it's because it has visually caught my attention, but also because it has spoken to me in some way. And I want to keep having this conversation with it everyday.

I like the idea that someone else might feel the same about my own work. It's a very warm thought and i'm very grateful for it 😊🙏

Sora, Riku and Kaito... a trio united by the colou

Sora, Riku and Kaito... a trio united by the colour red.

It started with some red, rectangular wooden beads i've found at the op shop and ended with three new sculptures 😄

I've used this beads on the first piece, Sora, and the red colour has sparked my imagination. One thing leading to another, it resulted in two more works.

It is such a strong and symbolic colour, like a thread of energy, running through and connecting each figure.
I like that a simple colour can be the start of something and become a guideline along the way 🙂

The Sentinels have found their way to @the_loft_ga

The Sentinels have found their way to @the_loft_gallery for their next group exhibition, opening next Wednesday.

This pair feels a little different from my recent work. The materials are left more raw and untouched, with less transformation and meticulous crafting, allowing their natural textures and imperfections to be exposed. It’s a direction I’m really interested in exploring further over the coming months 🙂

I'm mostly showing works from my Earth Keepers series, but I’m happy these two found their place within it.
A big thank you to Dagmar for this last minute opportunity, and for the care and energy she pours into making this beautiful space feel alive!

If you’re around Redcliffe, make sure to stop by. Have a coffee, slow down for a moment, and enjoy the art. It’s also a good place to practice foreign languages... i meet people from all over the world everytime I go there! 😆

Meet Kaito, the latest addition to my Ancestral Figures series.

I'm interested in ancient civilisations, their rich symbolic systems and the way cultural narratives shape identity.

Throughout history, identity has been communicated visually through dress, ornamentation, body art, and rituals. These practices, passed down through generations, remain powerful markers of belonging and cultural identity.

I'm inspired by these ancient traditions and visual languages from across the world and hope to establish a connection and celebrate heritage and collective memory.

Like all my sculptures, Kaito was created with cardboard, paper, papier-mâché, and natural fibres. A slow and thoughful process that brought his reimagined geisha to life 🙂

I've started this piece a little while ago and i've been so busy the past couple of week that she hasn't changed much since then. There is still tape to hold everything together 😅

So i'm welcoming this long weekend and i'm looking forward to spend time working on her.
I'm still working out options for the headpiece and I have some blue rope, fabric with blue and white patterns, and other cardboard elements that I want to add somewhere, somehow! 😄

Final touch...

While finishing Kaito, I found myself again in that quiet conversation I seem to have with every new piece.

I never really start with a fixed idea. It’s often a material, a colour, a texture that calls first — a piece of cardboard with an interesting shape, a bit of fabric with tones and patterns I like. I keep all sort of elements in boxes and they all have the potential of becoming a starting point.

As I work on a new sculpture, it kind of develops its own personality, guiding me along the way. Somehow becoming some sort of companion telling me stories.

This is something happening with each and every piece and that absolutely love experiencing!

I sometimes think i might be crazy! But then I remember — maybe that’s exactly what making art is meant to do. Shift your perception, dissolve time, and take you somewhere else entirely… and potentially causing you to talk to imaginary friends! 😆

I hope this is something that not only the creators and makers feel, but also the viewers! There are a lot of beautiful stories out there when we take time to look and listen 🙂🙌

Naera is my contribution to Museum of Lost Things.

Curated by @poetictigergallery this exhibition pays homage to the tradition of vanitas with overwhelming collections of objects, artifacts, sacred animals, botanicals, opulent rooms or worlds, and abandoned keepsakes.

I like to think of Naera as some sort of relic. Carrying a sense of memory, something out of time that feels discovered rather than made, as if she has always existed.

She reminds me of the long history of humanity and the ancestral knowledges that have been passed on for millenniums and shape who we are today 🙌

Happy Sunday peeps!

I know i haven't been very active on here lately 😅
Life has been busy with many things happening in the studio and privately.
I only have one brain and two hands, so I have to prioritise 😄

And, to be honest, it's getting harder to find motivation to post very often on IG.
I'm still here though! Less regularly but hopefully the algorithm still shows my work to you every now and then.

So, here are Sora & Riku, two pieces i've finished recently and that are now keeping company to each others.
These timeless figures have a strong, yet peaceful presence which i really love and they also offer hidden compartments to keep your secrets out of sight 🙌

She's actually an older piece i wasn't happy with and decide to rework. Besides the back of the headpiece and the wooden bowl, she's been completely transformed and is a few centimetres taller! 😄

I have a few more details to finish but she'll be ready to go out into the world soon.

I see her as a protective presence, so I like that she also offers physical spaces to accompanied this more spiritual feeling.
